Unions NSW is looking for a Communications Officer – join our team!

Who we are 

Unions NSW is the peak council of trade unions in NSW representing over 600,000 members and 60 affiliated unions and trades and labor councils and is part of the broader trade union movement.  Unions NSW completed an organisational review in 2016 and is now seeking to develop a digital team to complement our strategic plan.

Who you are

  • You’re passionate about social justice and see collective action as the solution.
  • You’ve developed communication strategies and are able to manage communications and write content for key audiences in a range of forms including commercial media, newsletters, articles, blogs and social media. 
  • You’ve had experience managing projects and external communications providers and contractors.
  • You have a way with words, and can translate complex workplace announcements into galvanizing communication.
  • You’re impact driven – you get an adrenaline rush from getting stuff done and seeing results.
  • You’re patient, a team-player, and comfortable working across a range of campaigns at the same time. 

What you’ll do

The Communications Officer will be responsible for coordinating Unions NSW messaging and managing communications to provide quality and useful information for all affiliates.  The outcome sought will be better engagement with affiliates to implement positive change both within our organisation and the wider NSW union movement. 

The Communications Officer is expected to develop strong relationships with internal Unions NSW staff, especially the Digital Campaigner and to collaborate with relevant contractors on external communications and provide advice to affiliated unions.

Salary:   $77,162.10 - $86,807.89 plus superannuation based on skills and experience.
