AMWU Members Helpdesk: Outbound Officer - Part Time

The AMWU is one of the largest manufacturing unions in Australia. We represent members in the metals trades, printing, paper industry, vehicle industry, food and confectionary as well as technical trades and professions.

We currently have a part time position available for someone interested in getting involved in the union movement. The hours of work for this position are Monday to Thursday, 4pm – 8pm. Availability across all four days is required.

The position involves making outbound calls to our members in relation to general outbound campaigns as per the direction and needs of the AMWU. Some of these include:

• Conducting surveys with our members on industrial issues in their workplace
• Engaging with our new members
• Following up on outstanding dues

The position works closely with the National and State Offices of the AMWU, and requires well developed oral and written communication skills.

Hours of Work
4pm to 8pm Monday to Thursday.

Selection Criteria

Successful applicants should have commitment to the principles of trade unionism and demonstrate the following:

• Previous call centre experience highly desirable.
• High level customer service and outbound call ability
• Confident approach to interacting with members
• Excellent communication skills and confident phone manner
• Time management and organisation
• Strong analytical skills
• Positive attitude under pressure
• Quick and accurate keyboard skills
• High level skills in Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel & Outlook)
• Strong interest in industrial relations

Outbound Helpdesk Officers are employed on a part time fixed term basis on a 12 month contract and will be paid $28 per hour, plus 10.5% superannuation.

Tertiary qualifications, or study toward a qualification, in industrial relations, social science or economics and / or equivalent experience is desirable.
