The AMWU is one of the largest manufacturing unions in Australia. We represent members in the metals trades, printing, paper industry, vehicle industry, food and confectionary as well as technical trades and professions.

Our size and diversity give us the strength to represent our members in a wide range of industries. To help maintain communication with our members we are looking for a full time Senior Helpdesk Officer to help coordinate our member contact strategy.

The AMWU Helpdesk is located at the Union’s National Office in Granville NSW. The Senior Helpdesk Officer will report to the Helpdesk Coordinator and be required to drive our member contact work and report on the results.

The position also involves providing supervision and support to the Helpdesk outbound call staff. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, conduct, monitor and report on calls as per allocated scripts and objectives of the campaign.
  • Assist with script writing, target setting and scheduling, to ensure that our campaigns are successfully completed in a timely manner.
  • Supervision, training and quality assurance of Outbound Helpdesk Officers and operations.
  • Navigation of AMWU Systems and Database Management.
  • Conducting surveys of our Members & Delegates on their views about the current industrial climate, issues within their workplace, and the general campaigns being conducted by the Union.

Hours of Work

11.30am to 8pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am – 5pm on Friday.

Selection Criteria

Successful applicants should have commitment to the principles of trade unionism and demonstrate the following:

-       Previous call centre experience
-       Supervisory experience is desirable.
-       Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel & Outlook) & Database Management
-       Time Management & Organisation
-       High standard of customer service
-       Excellent communication skills & confident phone manner
-       Strong Analytical skill
-       Experience and skills around working in and leading small teams
-       Positive attitude under pressure
-       Motivated & Solution focused
-       Quick and accurate keyboard skills

You will be employed on a 12 month fixed term contract as a Level  2, Helpdesk Officer, on a salary of $65 031 plus 10.5% super.

Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Industrial Relations, Social Sciences or Economics is desirable.
