National IT Project & Support Officer 20170809

We are seeking to employ an experienced, highly motivated and IT professional for our team.  This is a full time position located in the Union’s Brisbane offices at Bowen Hills for an initial term of 6 months.

CFMEU is the main union in the building and construction industry in Australia, representing over 100,000 workers and their families.

Our Construction & General Division National Office represents the union in national and international forums, advocates with politicians, government and regulatory bodies, co-ordinates national campaign activities, undertakes large legal matters and represents the Division in the broader CFMEU. 

The successful candidate will have a proven track-record as an IT professional, and will be able to work with minimal supervision. 

Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • A high level commitment to client service, and a friendly, helpful, solutions oriented disposition;
  • High level professionalism, attention to detail and self-motivation;
  • The ability to work under pressure, stick to deadlines and timeframes, and prioritise work;
  • Ability to listen and understand user problems, and focus on practical solutions to help users do their best work in an efficient way;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of team;
  • Critical thinking and analysis with an interest in problem solving;
  • A willingness and ability to create and work to project plans, and be accountable for such plans;
  • Experience in fault resolution of hardware including but not restricted to servers, switches, PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones printers and printer servers;
  • Experience in fault resolution of software issues including but not restricted to Microsoft operating systems and a variety of desktop applications;
  • Experience in supporting Windows desktop, Windows Server environments, as well as Apple operating systems;

Other Attributes

  • Must have strong communication and relationship building skills;
  • Experience working in a union would be highly regarded;
  • Must demonstrably share the values of the trade union movement.  Previous experience in a trade union will be very highly regarded.
