Non-English Speaking Union Network

Summary

The NESB Union Network will provide an opportunity for unions working with non-English speaking background (NESB) workers to meet bi-monthly and share information, discuss issues relevant to current and potential NESB members, and to identify opportunities to work collaboratively on small projects that will benefit both NESB workers and NSW Unions.

NESB UNION NETWORK

The NESB Union Network will provide an opportunity for unions working with non-English speaking background (NESB) workers to meet bi-monthly and share information, discuss issues relevant to current and potential NESB members, and to identify opportunities to work collaboratively on small projects that will benefit both NESB workers and NSW Unions.

 

What is the Aim of the Network?

The broad aims of the Network are to:

 

  • facilitate the dissemination of information on issues affecting NESB workers in NSW;
  • provide an opportunity for unions to work collaboratively in identifying resources to support NESB workers in NSW;
  • identify and develop training and skill development opportunities for unions;
  • respond to government policies and practices affecting NESB workers; and
  • provide support to organisations addressing broader issues affecting people form a non-English speaking background where appropriate.

 

The Labor Council's Special Project Officer, Mark Morey, will resource the Network.

 

Who Should Come Along?

The Network is open to anyone in the union movement interested in issues effecting NESB workers in NSW
