ABOUT UNITED VOICE

United Voice Victoria is a powerful member-led union driving change by growing union membership, developing leadership amongst our members, encouraging active member participation in the union, building and enforcing standards in our sectors, and campaigning in the community and politics.

ROLE                                                                                                      

Hospo Voice is United Voice’s new digital and membership strategy to organise hospitality workers in bars, cafes and restaurants. Thousands of workers are speaking out and taking action on sexual harassment and wage theft. We are ready to launch phase one of a new digital platform that gives hospo workers the tools to build power and win better jobs.

The Digital Organiser will:

  • Build the Hospo Voice community on our new digital platform
  • Work with a dedicated leader committee,
  • Develop campaign strategies and execute actions,
  • Create cut through content and build partnerships with allies.
  • An exciting role in one of Australia's largest and most dynamic unions, at the cutting edge of the union movement’s push to innovate and rebuild in the digital age.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Communication skills: Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, ability to write for and relate to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Organising skills: Excellent understanding of principles and practice of online organising, adept at using social media, petitions/other online actions and email to build lists, develop leaders and move people to action.
  • Digital literacy: Must have a deep understanding of key platforms (NationBuilder, Facebook), can manage and interpret campaign data and understand new and emerging digital tools and trends.
  • Story-telling: Experience telling powerful stories through video, memes, GIFs and other digital assets.
  • Initiative and Time Management: Ability to work independently, problem-solve and take responsibility for generating and managing work plans and deliver on agreed targets. Can work under pressure, on multiple projects and respond rapidly to campaign opportunities as they arise.
  • Strategic thinker: You can develop a killer plan to achieve campaign goals, identify the pieces of work involved and timeline it out.

REMUNERATION

The salary range for this position is $81k-$88k, commensurate with experience, plus 12% superannuation and six weeks annual leave.
