I.T. Manager –1 year contract, reviewed to potential full time appointment

The Transport Workers’ Union is one of the largest and most powerful unions in Australia,  representing transport workers and those who work with connection to the transport industry.

We are seeking a full time IT Manager to be based out of our growing Parramatta Office to provide Customer Service, IT maintenance and strategic IT development to benefit all TWU technology users.

IT Manager Responsibilities include:

-         Oversee team of IT professionals providing exceptional Customer Service to all TWU technology users

-         Maintain existing and develop new documentation in line with Security Protocols and Policy/Procedures of the Union

-         Maintain Users / Security within Active Directory and Exchange Management Console

-          Develop and recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organisation outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.

-          Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.

-          Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organisation standards

-          Microsoft Server 2012 R2 / Exchange 2013

-         Microsoft HyperV Virtualisation Technologies

-         Programming Skills, Web Development Skills, Microsoft SharePoint

-         Microsoft SQL / Stored Procedures / SSRS

-         Membership Database Management & Development including documentation updates

-          Assists financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective action.

-         Project Rollouts and Training

-         Support Remote Branches

 To be successful you will have:

  • Demonstrated qualifications and experience to satisfy the Technical Management, Technical Understanding, Analysing Information, Problem Solving, Data Centre Management, Strategic Planning, and Quality Management requirements of the role.
  • An understanding of how the Union works and a demonstrated commitment to union values social justice and the labour movement.
  • The ability to motivate and educate.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • The ability to work flexible arrangements.

A competitive package is offered to the successful applicant, which includes an attractive salary, 25% leave loading, RDO’s, Union Mobile phone and laptop. For more experienced applicant’s the package may be adjusted to reflect skills and experience.

 Review - The review period is 12 months – a recommendation will be put forward to the State Secretary taking into consideration performance, experience gained and any relevant qualifications obtained.
