The State's union movement will continue to campaign against the privatisation of hospitals across NSW, after securing an early back down on Goulburn Hospital.

The Government still intends to privatise hospitals at Maitland, Wyong, Shellharbour and Bowral.

“The State Government has no mandate to hand over our State’s hospitals to the private sector,” said Mark Morey, Secretary of Unions NSW.

“While we are encouraged by this early victory at Goulburn, we will continue to fight hard to stop hospital privatisations in Maitland, Wyong, Shellharbour and Bowral.

“Mike Baird is determined to Americanise our health system. That will simply lead to cost-cutting that will severely degrade the quality and reliability of hospital care in these regions.

"The Premier didn’t have the decency to discuss this experiment with hospital privatisation with affected communities before the election and across the State, people are rightly outraged."
