The Australian Salaried Medical Officers’ Federation (NSW) (“ASMOF”) is a registered trade union established to promote and protect the broad interests of salaried medical practitioners in New South Wales and to advocate for the provision of quality health services.

ASMOF is seeking to employ a full-time Industrial Officer to provide high quality industrial expertise, including research, advice, representation and advocacy to assist in resolving issues and winning improvements to wages and conditions and to build and strengthen the union in the workplace.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Advising members on their rights and responsibilities under relevant legislation and applicable industrial instruments; review and negotiate employment related documentations for members including industrial instruments and workplace policies; contribute to industrial advice to support the strategic development of campaigns and prepare and present cases and submissions for ASMOF.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of, and be competent in the application of, the NSW and Federal industrial legislation and the industrial instruments and management practices covering ASMOF members; well-developed research, analytical, problem solving skills and a capacity to contribute to strategic planning; ability to prepare and articulate a position formally at a tribunal, court or meeting; strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop professional relationships with members, other unions and employer representatives; ability to follow direction and exercise initiative and independent judgment; well-developed information technology skills with proven competence in the use of Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word and Power Point; demonstrated commitment to trade unionism; must be able to obtain a Right of Entry Permit; current driver’s licence (class 1A).

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:

Understanding of the NSW public health system; relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, including previous experience in a trade union or advocacy based organisation; experience in the preparation of cases and appearing in industrial tribunals.

SALARY: ASMOF Industrial Officer $94,438-$118,432 p/a depending on applicant’s level of experience.  Employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% are paid in addition to salary.
