Administration Officer Part-time (12 month contract)

We have an exciting opportunity in our South Australian/Northern Territory Branch, based in Adelaide for a part-time Administration Officer, on a 12 month contract working 22.5 hours over three days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

 Our Administration Officer is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Local Executive Secretary and to all staff in the South Australian/Northern Territory Branch. A key responsibility is to provide efficient customer service during the core hours of the branch which includes answering incoming calls, receiving and directing visitors to the building.


  1. Ensuring requests for information (Benefits, Legal Referrals, Membership applications) are distributed.

  2. Assist the Local Executive Secretary, Organisers and Industrial Advocates with the general administration functions of the office.

  3. Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements for organisers and reps.

  4. Recording the use of meeting facilities including video conferences.

  5. Provide administrative support when required with meeting coordination including assisting with agendas and recording of minutes.

  6. Distribute mail internally and externally through various methods of distribution, electronic, Couriers and Certified Mail.

  7. Maintaining Centralised Filing System (hard and soft copies) – collating, photocopying and filing of branch correspondence.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  1. Experience working for or being actively involved in a trade union or similar not for profit organisation.

  2. A demonstrated commitment to and enthusiasm for trade unionism and/or social justice.

  3. Strong time management and personal organisational skills, including the ability to perform work within specified timelines and plan work systematically and effectively.

  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  5. The ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.

  6. Possess highly competent computer skills and be able to use Microsoft Office and other FSU specific applications. 


The salary shall be set at $55,373pa (pro rata). The FSU also offers other excellent working conditions including employer superannuation contributions of 15%.
