Non-Standard Employment and Job Satisfaction: Evidence from the HILDA Survey
By Mark Wooden and Diana Warren
Workers do not necessarily see non-standard employment as undesirable. The authors argue this point based on the first wave of the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey.
Workers on fixed-term contracts appear to be more satisfied with their jobs than other workers. Second, the lower levels of job satisfaction among casual workers are restricted to those working full-time (still regarded as casual).
