Making Sustainability Work: Why workplaces are central to sustainable development.

Over the ten days of the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg (26 August to 4 September) over 5000 workers across the globe died from work accidents and disease.
Work-related illness and injuries are a major drain on world resources, but they are largely avoidable. With strong unions in place, workplaces are cleaner and safer, and this has a significant positive effect on the community at large.
