2. From: Australian Manufacturing Workers Union:- regarding the security of compensation to Hardies victims. Hardies advised shareholders that it intended to move from the Netherlands to Ireland, reportedly at a cost of up to $90M. In their statement to shareholders they advised that the move will likely impact on its ability to contribute funds to the AICF during the 2011 financial year. The Final Funding Agreement signed in November 2006, ensured the long term security of victim compensation, without impacting on the company's own financial viability. The Agreement established the Asbestos Industry Compensation fund, the purpose of which was to receive funds from Hardies and distribute compensation payments to Hardies' current and future victims. The proposed move by Hardies to Ireland could jeopardise the amount of money going into the fund.

Com. M. Lennon moved the Executive Recommendation:-

"That the correspondence be received and Unions NSW seek a meeting with the Premier.

Com. C. Drane seconded the resolution.

CARRIED

3. From: Financial Sector Union of Australia:- seeking endorsement and support for their new career training fund for displaced ANZ workers.
The union said that the fund came about as a consequence of the combined effects of the FSU and FINSEC. They said that the ANZ Bank had agreed to pay to retrain ANZ workers who lose their jobs in Australia or New Zealand as a result of ANZ deciding to send work offshore.

Com. M. Lennon moved the Executive Recommendation:-

"That the correspondence be received and Unions NSW congratulate the FSU and the FINSEC for the creation of $10M to help retrain ANZ workers who lose their jobs in Australia or New Zealand.

Union NSW endorses such arrangements where unions and employers take a proactive role in assisting the employment prospects of displaced workers."

Com. G. Derrick seconded the resolution

CARRIED

4. From: Rail Tram & Bus Union:- thanking Unions NSW for their support and attendance at the RBU Save Our Stations Community Campaign Launch at Central Station on Tuesday 23 June.
