Our Union is entering an exciting new era of growth and change and we’re in need of a motivated and adaptable individual to support our senior management team as an Executive Officer.

As a strategist, consultant and implementer, the successful candidate will ensure streamlined activities within the organisation based on the priorities of the National Secretary. The Executive Officer will handle day-to-day management of personnel to allow the National Secretary to focus on growing our Organisation. The right candidate for the job will contribute to the long-term success of the Union.

The position is directly reportable to the National Secretary, operating in both the National Office and the NSW Branch.

A successful Executive Officer will:
• Act as a point of contact between senior AWU leadership and other staff and stakeholders.
• Assist the National Secretary in facilitating effective decision-making
• Provide oversight and guidance to projects of high importance.
• Have extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Lead and direct the work of others.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

In order to be a successful candidate you will have:
• Experience in managing staff and teams
• Strong knowledge of industrial relations
• A proven ability to write and develop policy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A deep understanding of current events and the political climate.

This position is based in NSW and will require regular state and national travel.

Salary will be offered depending on experience and skills plus superannuation and other generous conditions.
