The Australian Workers’ Union (AWU) is the nation’s oldest and largest blue-collar trade Union representing more than 85,000 working Australians.

The AWU NSW Branch is expanding our current Construction Team and we are seeking two full-time, permanent Construction Organisers to be based in NSW. This role will include:

• Ability to structure organising conversations in order to recruit, move members to action and articulate union values
• Co-ordinate and monitor the negotiation stages of enterprise agreements to ensure improved wages and conditions for members.
• Identifying growth targets within the Civil Construction Industry and allocated workplaces
• Recruiting new members whilst servicing current AWU members
• Creating and working to organising plans
• Recognising and developing workplace delegates
• Visiting work sites and identifying new worksites
• Assist members with grievances and enquires
• Participate in workplace campaigns
• Represent the AWU and its members at the Fair Work Commission
• Working with National OHS Director and OHS Delegates to ensure all workplaces are safe

The Candidate:
The successful candidate will ideally have:
• Extensive knowledge of the construction industry including civil construction
• Capacity to obtain and hold a Right of Entry Permit.
• Experience as an Organiser, Senior Delegate, Health and Safety Representative, Lead Organiser or similar.
• Moderate understanding of organising techniques and frameworks.
• Negotiation skills.
• An ability to develop, implement and oversee campaign plans.
• Ability to work under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment
• A commitment to trade union values and principles.
• A strong understanding of the Fair Work Act.

The Candidate must hold a valid Driver Licence. This position is based in NSW and will require regular state travel.

Salary will be offered depending on experience and skills plus superannuation and other generous conditions.
