NTEU - ACT Division Organiser

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 27,000 academic and general staff in Universities and other tertiary education providers throughout Australia.  The Union’s ACT Division, which represents members employed at the Australian National University (ANU), ADFA, University of Canberra and ACU, is seeking a highly motivated staff member to join its team of industrial and organising staff. 

This is a part-time position located at the ACT Division office in Canberra (based at the ANU) but will also have specified Branch allocated time which will involve travelling to other universities in the ACT.  This part time position is presently offered at 28 hours per week (0.8), comprising an ongoing component of 21 hours per week (0.6) and an additional 7 hours per week (0.2) which is offered on a fixed term contract basis coincident with the duration of an annually reviewable flexible work arrangement of another employee.

The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties, including, as part of a team, taking responsibility for the completion of assigned organising, campaign, and administrative tasks or projects. 

The successful applicant will have a commitment to unionism, and experience in recruitment, routine office tasks, writing and campaign skills.  Knowledge of the tertiary education industry and experience in the support of activist networks would be an advantage. 

The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 5 ($81,819 - $88,461) or NTEU Level 6 ($92,373 - $101,265) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.  Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
