Wage Claims/Industrial Relations Officer

The Position

The CFMEU Qld/NT Branch is currently seeking a Wage Claims/Industrial Relations Officer.  This full time role, working in a busy blue collar trade union office, is well suited to a highly motivated professional with experience in interpreting and applying legislation and policy from an IR perspective.

Reporting to the Legal/Industrial Relations Officer, responsibilities include:

  • Researching policy and workplace legislation to support the provision of accurate and timely advice to officers and members
  • negotiation and preparation of Enterprise Bargaining agreements
  • representing the Union and its members at the Fair Work Commission and Queensland Industrial Relations Commission hearings and other tribunals.

 Selection Criteria:

  • Good working knowledge of current workplace legislation and policy
  • sound knowledge of both the Federal and State industrial relations systems
  • strong negotiation skills within the Industrial Relations system
  • relevant knowledge of employment legislation and experience in the provision of industrial advice
  • exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail
  • commitment to the principles of unionism and ability to operate as a member of a team.
