Industrial Officer, Strategic Industrial and Bargaining Team

Temporary Full-time (12 month maternity leave coverage)

$115,372.00 per annum + 5 weeks annual leave + 12 RDOs + Christmas shut down

The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) in association with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) New South Wales (NSW) Branch seeks an experienced Industrial Officer to join a team dedicated to achieving collective agreements and building power through the development of member leaders’ campaigning capacity.

This exciting campaign-focused industrial role offers the chance to achieve advances in nurses and midwives’ working conditions through undertaking responsibility for:

  • Developing and implementing collective agreement campaigns, working in a collaborative team with Organisers and Bargaining Campaign Officers and other Industrial Officers.
  • Leading high level negotiations with various employers in the health sector.


We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the trade union movement.
  • Commitment to strive for the advancement of nurses and midwives, and the nursing and midwifery professions.
  • Specific knowledge and preferably experience in the negotiation of collective agreements.
  • Developed negotiation, advocacy and representation skills.
  • Experience in program/project development, implementation and evaluation ability including skills such as co-ordination, highly-developed consultation skills.
  • High level of initiative and ability to self-manage.
  • Ability to exercise accurate and high level judgment about industrial issues, including those with union-wide sensitivity or implications, commensurate with level of experience in the role.
  • Flexibility to adapt to high pressure situations and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to participate effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to relate effectively with members/delegates/potential members, and employers/employer representatives.
