Permanent full-time

$159,878.00 per annum + 12 RDOs + 5 weeks annual leave

The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) in association with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation New South Wales Branch (ANMF NSW Branch) seeks a Manager Business Services and Compliance to join our Business Services and Compliance team.

In this role you will:

Manage the Finance, Information Technology and Information & Records Management Centre teams and oversee the compliance of the NSWNMA and ANMF NSW Branch with legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Services

  • Provide strategic advice and support regarding business services and compliance to the Elected Officers
  • Co-ordination of the Association’s annual budget process
  • Ensure ongoing budget reporting to the General Secretary, Council and other Association Managers
  • Oversee maintenance of register of contracts
  • Manage relevant tenders in accordance with finance policies
  • Manage the planning and implementation of the Association’s Annual Conference venue, travel and accommodation contracts in conjunction with Executive Office, Communications and Campaigns team and Professional Team.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of risk management systems and strategies for the Association e.g. Risk management system development and review, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity systems and procedures


  • Oversee annual financial audits of the NSWNMA and ANMF NSW Branch
  • Oversee compliance with statutory reporting requirements (relevant IR provisions such as Annual Returns of Information, FBT, PAYG, GST, Privacy Principles etc.)
  • Ensure Association insurances are adequate and current
  • Ensure Association Member Benefit insurances are adequate and current (Journey Accident and Professional Indemnity insurances)

Employee Management

  • Manage the Business Services and Compliance team on a day-to-day basis, driving performance, innovation and providing appropriate coaching and development as required
  • Direct management responsibility for sub-team Coordinators (Finance, IT, Information and Records Management), PA to Manager Business Services and Compliance, Administration Officer Business Services and Compliance, and IRMC Policy & Compliance Officer.
  • In conjunction with sub-team Coordinators, plan and review workforce needs including developing and implementing staff and succession plans
  • Participate as Management representative on the Workplace Health and Safety Committee

Selection Criteria:

  1. Proven experience managing Business Services or equivalent experience
  2. Understanding of business functions such as Finance, IT and Records Management.
  3. Demonstrable competency in strategic planning, risk management systems and legislative compliance
  4. Recognised qualification in Business, Law or other relevant field
  5. Must be numerate, analytical and have excellent attention to detail
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
  8. High level of personal integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  9. Experience leading, managing, motivating and developing staff to achieve team and Association goals.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to the trade union movement
