Union Superheroes

Superheroes big day out in Goulburn

This weekend Goulburn District Unions will play host to Union Superheroes at the Goulburn Markets St Saviour‘s Common 170 Bourke St Goulburn.

This will be the first appearance of Union Superheroes in regional NSW having debuted at this year’s University O-Weeks in Sydney.

Goulburn District Unions spokesperson Jane Cotter says “We think the Goulburn Market stall will be a great opportunity for our volunteers to have conversations with young people about workings rights.”

Union Superheroes creator and labour law student Alison Cui says “It’s really important for us as young people to engage with young workers in regional centres.  We find that most people don’t know what penalty rates are, and don’t know how unions can help.”

Ms Cui says “Union Superheroes are fresh, relatable and can retain Gen Y’s attention span for longer than the length of Justin Beiber’s new music video.”

“Our Superheroes are strong, capable of protecting working rights and a fun way to talk about what’s happening at your workplace.”

“At the Goulburn Markets locals will be invited to play a round of “Workers Monopoly” a board game with lolly bag prizes and balloons. For example, instead of players building hotels, Dora the explorer is seeking workers compensation.”

Ms Cotter says “We’re looking forward to having a casual chat with working people in Goulburn about their work rights, jobs and services.”

All workers are welcome to attend the next meeting of Goulburn District Unions Mon 7th April 5:30pm – 7pm Goulburn Soldiers Club.
