UNITED VOICE:  Campaigner, Online-to-field organising team.

Reporting to: National Coordinator of Online-to-field Organising

Salary package: $66,366 plus motor vehicle allowance ($14,491); 6 weeks annual leave; 12% superannuation

Hiring process: We’ll be hiring asap and will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis - so get in quick!

Work Type:   This position is a 12 Month Contract with possibility of extension.

Who we are:

United Voice is a powerful member-led union of workers organising to win better jobs, stronger communities, a fairer society and a sustainable future.

Our purpose is to unlock the collective power of the workers in our coverage, so that they are valued, respected and agents of socially progressive change in their work, lives and communities.

We have broad coverage, representing workers in a range of industries including early childhood education and care, cleaning, home care, hospitality and gaming, security and manufacturing.

Our members are facing a range of challenges - rising inequality, casualisation, increasing isolation of their workforce - and are fighting back with a combination of traditional and new organising.

The team you’ll be a part of is a national organising team trialling online-to-field organising - a new way of building power with and for our members. We have ambitious goals; a supportive team culture; and we put our members at the heart of everything we do.

Our members are at the forefront of the fight for a fairer society and are standing together to create jobs they can count on.

Who you are:

  • You’re based in Sydney - or can convince us that you’re perfect for the job and have the capacity to work remotely if you’re based in another state.

  • Your background is less important than your potential - but bonus points for experience in digital campaigning, organising, managing online communities, mass communication, and developing resources and training for activists.

  • You have a passion for social justice; can take both direction and initiative; can juggle multiple competing priorities; and can pick new skills up quickly.

  • You’re committed to our union’s values – fairness, compassion, equality, and dignity of workers.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with members of our union to use new tools to build power with and for our members to achieve progressive change.

  • Engage members and potential members in our coverage through running online actions - such as petitions, surveys, digital ads, and action tools. These people will be followed up with conversations by organisers in your team to open up opportunities around membership and activism - so you’ll be working within a broader online-to-field organising process.

  • Communicate with members and potential members in our coverage via email, peer-to-peer SMS, and other channels to help achieve our campaign goals.

  • Support member leaders in running online communities - focusing on content, growth and member development.

  • Be a development resource within our union - creating resources for organisers, activists and member leaders, and assisting with delivering training.

As a union with a proudly diverse membership and a strong tradition of women in leadership, women and people from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
