IT Desktop Support


The National Office/NSW branch IT Desktop Support (ITDS) is responsible for the support and maintenance of desktop hardware and software and desktop support. 

The primary function of the ITDS is to provide effective support services to United Voice National Office, NSW and small branch staff.

This position is shared between National Office and NSW branch and will be located three days a week in the NSW branch and two days a week in National Office.


 The key duties of the position are:

User and System Support

  1. Logging support calls in the Service Desk software and tracking them through to completion.
  2. Providing telephone and desktop support to National Office, NSW and small branch staff.
  3. Provisioning and configuring new desktops systems, printers, telephones and related end-user equipment.
  4. Providing proactive assistance and advice to end-users to enable them to work more efficiently with their computer systems
  5. Provide support and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues in the National Office, NSW and small branches.
  6. Provisioning new user accounts, software and related hardware when required.


  1. Provide support to IT in other branches as required.
  2. Work with the National IT team to prepare plans for the development of the national IT architecture; implement projects for the national IT architecture where tasked to do so.
  3. Assist with projects as required by the National Information Systems Manager.


The skills required for this position are:

  • Excellent knowledge of IT systems in a WAN user support environment.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills, both verbal and written,

 including the ability to assist in creating effective IT procedures and documentation.

  • Ability to set priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • High level of attention to detail.

Solid experience in the following:

  • Desktop Support
  • Windows workstation applications
  • Printer setup

Familiarity with:

  • Exchange 2007/2010
  • Active Directory
  • Sophos endpoint protection


 2 to 3 years desktop support experience.

A tertiary level qualification is desirable for this position.
