Role Summary                           

United Voice has an ambitious and innovative national development program for members, organisers, lead organisers and other officials.  The program is closely linked with priority campaigns at Branch and National levels and aims to build and extend our people, challenge our organising and campaigning practice and embed a commitment to learning and development across our union.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the National Development Team to implement development programs for United Voice officials and member leaders.
  • Develop and run workshops and training modules on skills needed for organising, political organising and running campaigns.
  • Develop resources and processes to support effective follow-up of classroom workshops and training courses.
  • Provide on-the-ground support to campaigning and organising activities.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate training courses in the branches and in national office.
  • Coordinate the logistical arrangements for courses and workshops.
  • Maintain accurate training records and reports.
  • Assist with development and organising work for national campaigns as required.

Requirements

  • Commitment to United Voice’s values and good knowledge of the organising work of unions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relations with diverse membership and staff.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to take initiative, work with a team and handle a fast-paced setting with multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop workshops and curricula, using a variety of adult teaching techniques appropriate for action-oriented education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to write proposals and reports, make presentations, facilitate meetings and conduct training.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work irregular hours as required.
  • Proficiency in Word and Powerpoint, as well as a working knowledge of spreadsheet and database software.
  • 3 years experience as a union or community organiser preferred.

Remuneration 

United Voice provides competitive pay and working conditions including 6 week’s annual leave, the possibility to negotiate flexible work arrangements, and 12% superannuation.

Salary Range $97,354 - $101,773 depending on experience
