The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) – Two Organiser Positions for their Member Organising Team

Organiser (x2), Member Organising Team

Temporary full-time

(12 month contract/secondment and parental leave replacement)

$112,740.00 per annum + Superannuation + 12 RDOs

+ 5 weeks annual leave + Christmas shutdown

 

The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) in association with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation New South Wales Branch (ANMF NSW Branch) seeks two Organisers to join our Member Organising Team (MO) on a temporary full-time basis.

 

In this role you will:

  • Building union power through systematic organisation
  • Recruiting members utilising recruitment strategies and face-to-face conversations
  • Identifying and developing activists
  • Developing and implementing formal organising plans to form new workplace branches and retain existing branches
  • Participate in workplace campaigns
  • Contribute to the NSWNMA’s goals to achieve collective outcomes.

 

To be considered for this position you require:

Essential Criteria 

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the union movement
  2. Recognised qualifications in the field of nursing or midwifery
  3. Two years financial NSWNMA membership
  4. Commitment to acquiring and developing the skills of organising
  5. Demonstrated capacity to be an open learner
  6. Commitment to contribute and work within a team
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the nursing and midwifery professions
  8. Demonstrated time management skills
  9. Proficient use of the English Language both written and oral
  10. Demonstrated capacity to listen and use active listening techniques
  11. Demonstrated ability to use a computer and smartphone or similar device
  12. Previous experience with Microsoft Office
  13. A demonstrated ability to write formal letters, reports and other forms of documentation
  14. Full and current NSW driver licence.

 

Desirable Criteria 

  1. Experience in working in a range of workplaces
  2. Experience of working for a union
  3. Experience in community organising or active participation in local groups/networks
  4. Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  5. Ability to speak, read and write in a second language.

An outstanding opportunity is available for a professional and energetic Administration Officer at the Union’s Newcastle office.

Salary is in accordance with the Union’s salary system, commencing at $55,563 to $69,012 plus 10% super per annum. USU employees work a thirty-five hour week and enjoy a nine-day fortnight.

You will be well-presented, have exceptional communication skills and be able to work well autonomously and within a team.
