NTEU SA Division Organiser(12 month contract)
The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 27,000 academic and general staff in Universities and other tertiary education providers throughout Australia. The Union’s SA Division, which represents members employed at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia, is seeking to employ a highly motivated staff member to join its team of industrial and organising staff.
This is a full-time position, and is offered as a 12 month, fixed-term contract to replace a staff member who is going on extended leave, and will be available from late-August. You will be located at the SA Division office in Adelaide but will also have specified Branch allocated time which will involve travelling to a number of universities in SA.
The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties, including, as part of a team, taking responsibility for the completion of assigned organising, campaign, and administrative tasks or projects.
The successful applicant will have a commitment to unionism, and experience in recruitment, routine office tasks, writing and campaign skills. Knowledge of the tertiary education industry and experience in the support of activist networks would be an advantage.
The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 5 ($81,819 - $88,461) or NTEU Level 6 ($92,373 - $101,265) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
