A snapshot of key findings from a survey conducted by Unions NSW to asses the workplace, health and financial impacts of COVID-19 restrictions on workers in NSW.

Throughout the Greater Sydney lockdown in July and August 2021, the NSW Government and NSW Health have stated that workplaces are a critical transmission point. The combination of health risks of COVID-19 coupled with health restrictions to limit these risks, create both economic and healthy and safety concerns for workers.

Workers are anxious and believe there are shortcomings in the health response and substantial shortcomings in the economic response. This survey finds that workers continue to report risks of workplace COVID-19 transmission, that the NSW Government was too slow to introduce a lockdown and that economic conditions will deteriorate in the near future.
